Use Google Ads to Inspire Effective SEO for Artist

I have found myself with a surplus of time during the pandemic. With the decline in customer work, I decided to expand my skill set. In the last three weeks, I have trained on Google's ad tools, and I believe any aspiring marketer should take their free training courses

During my training, I learned about the Keyword Planner tool. This free tool was created to help advertisers determine the best keywords to use in their Google ads. The tool is simple and offers insight into what people are searching for on the Google engine. After using the tool, I got the idea to use it to help with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on the website of a printing company I work for.

Instead of stopping at my day job, I am going to apply this same tactic to my website. I am not the first person to have this idea. In fact, I found an article written by SEMrush on using the keyword planner for SEO.

One of my goals as a writer was to create value for artist trying to run a business. As I expand my knowledge, I want to help with things like digital marketing for artist. There are many people who want to know more about starting an art business and I believe marketing yourself effectively is important. I believe this tool can help with common conundrums like Etsy SEO tips and how to sell art online. In fact, all the bold italic words you see in this paragraph were chosen because of the Keyword tool.

I want to increase my website traffic, and the best way to do that is to create content that people are searching for. I am going to start implementing this tool in my copy on my website and if you want to join along here is the too long didn't read (TLDR) information you need to know:

What is SEO?Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is described by Google as making minor changes to content on your website to increase your search rankings.

What is a Keyword?A keyword can be a word or a phrase that someone is searching for.

How do I gain access to this tool? You'll need to create a Google Ads account. Don't worry - you don't need to pay for anything. They will close your account if you don't spend for 15 months, but you can easily reopen the account with a few clicks of the mouse.

How do I get to the Keyword Planner Tool? After creating your Google Ads account you can access the keyword planner tool by clicking on Tools & Settings > Keyword Planner Tool

How does it work? You want to use the 'Discover new keywords' part of the tool. You can type in words or phrases you think people are searching, or you can enter the domain of a competitor or person/company that has similar products to you. You can enter keywords and domains together as well.

Click on the 'Get Results' button, and Google will provide you with keyword ideas. You can sort the ideas by the most searched to the least searched. In this case, I found some good keywords related to marketing for artist.

Add these keywords into your blogs, product listings, and website to give them a little SEO boost, but make sure you aren't fluffing your content with words that are not relevant to what the user searched.

Hopefully, this helps fellow artist and inspires their inner marketer.
